Eric Scott Lecture
Dear Redlands-area friends of NCSE,
I thought that you might like to know that Eric Scott, Curator of
Paleontology at the San Bernardino County Museum, will be speaking on
"Darwin and Design" at 2:00 p.m. on February 7 at the San Bernardino
County Museum in Redlands.
Life on earth is made up of millions of organisms that appear designed
to live in specific areas or perform certain tasks with breathtaking
efficiency. "From streamlined sharks powering through the oceans, to
hoofed horses thundering across the plains, to winged birds soaring
overhead -- all these and many more appear to be beautifully adapted
to their environments," said Scott. "How did this adaptation arise?
Does design imply a designer?" In this lecture, Scott will review the
evidence for design and discuss its evolutionary origins.
Admission to the museum will be half-off on February 7: adult
admission will be $4; senior and military $3, student age 12 to 17
$2.50, and children age 5 to 12 $2. Children under age 5 and Museum
Association members are admitted to the museum free of charge.
